More Fun w/Xymon

So, I decided to flush and redo my server (I do this from time to time, it’s fun … no, really, LOL!) Anyways, so I flushed it. Why is not important but let’s just say that I moved a drive that was NOT part of a RAID to a RAID and kinda killed some VM’s … that’ll teach me to click NEXT a bunch times without reading …

Well I followed my own directions (HA!) and setup a new Xymon server. Directions still work, which is nice to know. I decided to tweak a little further and ran into something … I use NAME:”Some Description” for my hosts in HOSTS.CFG but thought it would be nice to use DESCR:type:”some info can go here” to get details from the info page … when I added the tag, it just showed all the contents under “other tags” on the info page … not what I was going for … after much testing I figured it out, each tag type in HOSTS.CFG you want to use MUST be seperated by a TAB … IE:

123.123.123.123 <TAB> HOSTNAME <TAB> # NAME:”Some Hostname” <TAB> DESCR:type:”Some details”<TAB> test1 test2 etc…

Figured I would share this in case anyone else ran into it!
