Dell Perf 6/I Not Seeing All VD’s

So, a side note here. The PowerEdge R410 I have was to replace my PowerEdge 2900 II. I put a Perc6/i in the 2900 a while back (upgrade from the old Perc5 it had) and since I replaced the whole server I sold the 2900 (2900II, 2x X5365 Xeons, 48GB RAM, 8x 1TB SATA HD’s) so I need to clean it and setup Windows. So, I go into the PERC BIOS and create a 1TB MIRROR and a RAID5 with the remaining drives (no UEFI so boot bigger than 2TB.) I toss in a bootable USB 2012R2 installed and get through entering my key and what not then when I go to choose the partition only the RAID 5 shows … odd I know. Ok, reboot and hop back into the RAID BIOS… 1TB mirror is the boot, it’s VD0 and everything is initialized … WTF? Clear configuration, recreate VD’s and same result. Go go Google … nothing … bupkiss … GRR! So, trial and error ensues. Deleted the VD’s and created just the RAID1. Installed Windows. Created the RAID5. We’re up and running!

  3. Hi this is somewhat of off topic but I was wondering if blogs use WYSIWYG editors or if you have to manually code with HTML. I’m starting a blog soon but have no coding knowledge so I wanted to get guidance from someone with experience. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
